Background

The Carnegie Library Club was founded November 1977, and has flourished throughout its history.

It has built up a loyal group of Volunteers and Students, some of whom have been with the Club for more than ten years.

The Club normally meets for some forty Monday evenings a year between 7.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. except for bank holidays, and breaks for Christmas, Easter and the Summer.

Dates for holidays are published on the Amity Venue Update page.

Venue

The Carnegie Library was the first Library in England endowed by Andrew Carnegie and dates back to the early twentieth century.  It is situated at:

188 Herne Hill Road

Click here if you would like to see a location map provided by multiMAP.

The building is near to local bus routes, and both Herne Hill and Denmark Hill BR Stations are about 15 minutes walk.

Disabled access to the building is available, but prior warning is essential if it is to be made available swiftly.

The use of the premises is made available to us free of charge by the generous support of the London Borough of Lambeth to whom we are most grateful.
